I realise I've been unintentionally absent for some time now. I'm afraid I have no excuse. I finished exams, then L finished exams, and suddenly we had nothing to do - quite a shock to the system! All through exams, we had thought of all the things we would be able to do when we had the time, and then when we had the time we discovered a slight issue - there are very few things to do in Edinburgh that don't involve money, something we, as unemployed students living on the dregs of the last installment of student loan, have little of. If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. Thankfully we're going home to Somerset in two weeks. But then we encounter a variation on that problem - finding free things to do in Somerset instead.
I do have plenty of time to stand and stare though... What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. William Henry Davies
I loved reading the Blog and thought the illustrated poem was lovely. Poetry is very to the forefront at present and it's free, well from the Library anyway.
