I love real flowers. We almost always have a small vase in the kitchen, they somehow seem to really brighten the room. However, they do have a nasty tendency to wither and drop petals everywhere (we have some freesias which are doing just that as I write!). The photo above is of a gorgeous bouquet L sent me. The roses didn't die but turned black without the petals dropping at all, which I've never seen happen before.
Paper and wooden flowers, on the other hand, do not die. They may fade a little, as these have, but they do last forever. My mum still has a red tissue paper rose that I made a very long time ago on a shelf at home! This bunch of blue and cream wooden roses were a lovely surprise from L.
